Row of Decayed Pilings Silhouetted at Sunrise from Castle Island South Boston
There was a huge fog bank rolling in from the ocean on the horizon which helped me minimize background objects, as all you can see is the southern runway of Logan Airport on the horizon. On a clear day you are guaranteed color directly on the horizon even if the rest of the sky is colorless, which isn’t ideal for a wide angle. I used this to my advantage by compressing this scene with a long focal distance, allowing me to grab only the colorful sky just above the horizon.
This was a 360 sec exposure with LEE Filters Big Stopper (10-Stop) and Very-Hard Edge 1.2 GND. I highly recommend the Very-Hard blend lines for telephoto work.
